WINTER ACTIVITIES CAUTION
Keep in mind that Colorado's weather can change quickly. No matter what your outdoor activity, make sure you bring an extra layer of clothing with you. Whether it is a sunny or cloudy day always USE SUNSCREEN. Remember you are anywhere from 7,000 to 14,000' above sea level and the sun is much more intense than you realize. DRINK LOTS OF WATER. Some people experience high altitude sickness; drinking plenty of water will help you stay hydrated.
SUMMIT COUNTY SKIING INFORMATION
The following ski areas are less than 20 minutes from the condo.
These ski areas are within 20-35 minutes from the condo.
SKI/SNOWBOARD/SNOWSHOE RENTALS
There are numerous places to rent equipment in Summit County and all the ski resorts rent equipment. However, we would not recommend renting from the ski resorts as they are usually overpriced and the equipment is overused.
We recommend the 2 following locations:
Wild Ernest Sports, 14 Fawn Ct., Dillon (970-468-5970)
located off Ryan Gulch Road
(north side of I-70, left at the 7-11, about 1/2 mile up that road).
Virgin Island (970-468-6655)
located in the Summit Place Center shopping plaza by Office Max.
(Hwy 6 between I-70 & City Market)
DISCOUNT LIFT TICKETS
Unfortunately discount lift tickets get harder to find each year! The cheapest single day lift ticket can be purchased at King Soopers grocery store (a division of Kroger). If you fly into Denver International Airport (DIA) and are driving to my condo, the closest and easiest King Soopers is just off I-70.
Directions: Heading West on I-70, before you head into the foothills, exit at the 32nd and Youngfield exit. Go under bridge; at stop light turn left; another left into the mall and you'll see them on the right. There are numerous other King Soopers grocery stores throughout the Denver area. You can visit their website at kingsoopers.com for store locations and maps.
A website that offers discount lift tickets to Arapahoe Basin and Cooper Mountain is liftopia.com.
A new website offering discount lift tickets through Shell Oil is skifreedeals.com. Shell is offering "buy one lift ticket and receive a free lift ticket" at Copper Mountain and Loveland when you purchase 10 gallons of gas. See website for specific details.
The Entertainment Book has discount lift tickets and lessons for Arapahoe Basin, Copper Mountain and Loveland. Blackout dates for 12/26-1/2. There are also coupons for Breeze Ski Rental. entertainment.com or 866-592-5991. Use code 038 Denver.
Multiple day discount tickets can be purchased at Mountain Sports (by Arby's & the Outlet Malls [262-2836]) or at each ski resort (see their individual websites for information).
